The REAL Thanksgiving Story!

Be thankful you weren't a Native American in the 1600s. This is the real story of Thanksgiving not the school textbook "Disney" version, which is an insult to all Native-Americans today. @cheapcape – the Native account comes from oral history. The Indian perspective (from Native societies) largely agree w/the colonist account that there were 90 Indians & 54 colonists (who owed their survival to the Wampanoag.) BOTH “gave thanks” in their own way, played games & brought food to the Harvest Fest in 1621. The colonists story is mentioned, very briefly, in “Mourt’s Relation” & “Of Plymouth Plantation.” This is what Thanksgiving Celebrates (Not the later violence). Peace.

Native Indians knew more about running this country than crooked politicians do now, hands down.

@JAukerman23 But plenty of white supremacists still exist as well as other racists, so fuck them.

The Mayflower Pilgrims did not KILL any Indians. In fact, with their more advanced medical skills, they saved Native lives, especially Chief Massasoit. The Wampanoag befriended the Pilgrims to gain access to their metal tools & muskets. Native Indians are humans, w/ faults too. The tribes warred w/ each other & even kept African slaves. Regardless of later thanksgiving feasts for battle victories, the Thanksgiving Declarations were about celebrating Peace & Prosperity.

There are three sides to every story…. Example: Your side, my side, and the truth.

Everyone’s been persecuted. Every race has had some sort of genocide lodged against them, same with every religion and creed. Yes. Learn history. Learn the truth. But don’t get angry about something that happened so long ago. No white man alive was present for these genocides, and no Native American is alive who was a victim of them, or even witnessed them.

@3picon I know plenty about the Mormons..I attended the church for a while to learn about them. I don’t just read crap online to get all my information. The only people who recognize the existence of Lamanites are the LDS church. No scientist, historian, or geneticist does. Who ever taught you that Mormon story needs to go back and find the right one. Because you are wrong.

I thought Thanks giving began in medieval Europe as a harvest celebration/thanking of god for giving them food for another year, and since almost every culture on our planet has a harvest celebration when the Natives, met the Whites they decided to celebrate together. But the Europeans did it to get some free food from the natives, and killed a ton of them after they learned their way of farming, and finding food.

@SacredSocietyAP One learn about the mormon church a little and you will find out that they don’t believe in our ancestors being cursed; two, mormons can read more than the BoM, and three, my “family” are the Mapuche, I bet you don’t know who they are. A little hatred is felt coming from you.
November 10th, 2011 - 08:56
@3picon We are not Lamanites and not cursed for having darker skins as your LDS church says..Your “family” is the Mormons. You just don’t wanna say it because your stories are crazy and untrue. Thats why you are only allowed to read the Book of Mormon..Why? Because you will find out the real truth from the real people it’s talking about..Like right now!

@TorchicBlaziken313 they do that because people would see the truth about Israel and what is going on there. Notice if ANYONE questions Israel you get called an antisemitic. You are right though nobody talks about the deaths of people under Mao or Stalin either. They don’t even talk about the horrible things going on right now in Congo.
